Stated Clerk touts middle governing body commission

A proposal to the 219th General Assembly (2010) this week in Minneapolis to create a commission to address issues facing middle governing bodies in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is essential,” because so many presbyteries and synods are in crisis, says the Rev. Gradye Parsons, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly.

GA 219 commissioners face weighty agenda

If all the documents to the “paperless” 219th General Assembly here were printed out, they’d rival Tolstoy’s War and Peace in length. By the time the Assembly concludes July 10, the 712 commissioners and roughly 200 advisory delegates will have acted on more than 300 items of business that would span about 1,400 printed pages.

Form of Government Revision Committee meets early

Moderators and vice moderators chosen for 18 committees

The moderators and vice moderators of the 18 committees for the 219th General Assembly (2010) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) have been named. The leadership was chosen from the 712 commissioners to this year’s assembly, to be held July 3-10 in Minneapolis, Minn.
